Green Schools Print

Green School is an International programme operating in forty three countries worldwide.  An Taisce are responsible for facilitating this programme in Ireland.  It aims to raise awareness and educate young people and their communities in global and local environmental issues.

This is done through a set of seven steps which must be completed before being awarded a green flag.  Flags are awarded for the work carried out in the areas of litter & waste, energy, water and transport.

In St. Brigid's BNS we try our best to follow the Green Schools ethos.  The Student Council regularly carries out spot checks in classrooms to ensure there is plenty of recycling and reusing going on and as little waste as possible.

Every year we participate in the National Spring Clean Programme.  Each class has responsibility for collecting waste and removing rubbish from surrounding roads in our parish.

As an active school we also promote sustainable methods of travel and many of the boys walk or cycle to school.
